Who doesn’t like a good taco or a good pizza? Then naturally a taco pizza is no brainer to like too! Pinterest is a wonderful thing of sharing ideas and I’ve adapted the original recipe found here. I had refrigerated crescent roll dough on hand for my crust but Honeyville has some great homemade pizza dough options on the blog too. Check out Chef Brad’s or The Food Nanny’s versions–you can’t go wrong with either one! Cut it into smaller strips for a great little appetizer or party food.
Ingredients:
2 and 1/2 cups Honeyville Freeze Dried Ground Beef
1/3 cup Honeyville Dehydrated Onions
1 cup prepared Honeyville Refried Bean Flakes
2 and 1/2 cups Honeyville Freeze Dried Cheddar, Colby or Monterey Jack Cheese, rehydrated
2 Tbs Chef Tess’ Southwest Fajita Seasoning Blend
1 (14.5 oz) can Diced Tomatoes, drained (your Salsa could be substituted)
Sliced Olives
2 (8 oz) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough or homemade pizza dough of choice
Directions:
Roll out the prepared dough into an ungreased jelly roll pan (aka cookie sheet in my house). Allow dough to come up a bit on all sides. Press triangle seams together with fingers.
Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 11-15 minutes, just until golden brown.
Meanwhile, while the dough bakes rehydrate beef and onions together according to beef package directions as well as get the refried beans made. Drain the meat mixture, adding it to a medium bowl and mix in the Southwest Fajita seasoning blend. Once the baked crust comes out of the oven start the layering fun!
First spread the warm refried beans over the crust.
Next add the meat and onions.
Finish by adding the tomato, cheese and olives (and jalapenos if you’d like).
Return pizza to the oven to bake for an additional 5 minutes until cheese melts.
Cut into squares and enjoy! It’s a simple meal but very satisfying. You could easily add more beans, some Freeze Dried Bell Peppers, or some fresh cilantro too. My husband is a sour cream type of guy so he added a dollop on top to his slice(s). We had this for lunch but since it made a ton I had it for lunch the next day too! The second time I added the salad directly on top. More veggies this new year for me!
Happy Eating!
