Churro Mix Recipe

Today, we’re doing things a little different. We decided to pick a fun and exciting product that would be the perfect fit for any small business or bakery. For those of us who may do our baking on a smaller scale, there is no need to worry! We’re going to show you how you can make this delicious recipe right at home.

Did you know that Honeyville has a churro mix? That’s right, those delicious, amazing cinnamon and cake-like spiral sticks we’ve come to recognize at theme parks and state fairs can be made right in your privately-owned bakery, or even in your personal kitchen! Not only that, but this mix is very easy to adjust to any amount you’re looking for, whether you need just 10-20 for your daughters birthday party or 500 for your bakery’s afternoon rush. For today’s post we’ve altered the recipe to cook up 7-10 churros, but one 50 lb bag of Honeyville Churro Mix can make up to 880 two ounce churros. And depending on the equipment you may have in your bakery or small business, those 880 churros could be mixed, baked, in just under an hour. Check out how simple this recipe is and how quick you can have delicious churros ready to serve or sell.

Ingredients:
3 1/2 cups Honeyville Churro Mix
2 3/4 cups Boiling Water
Cinnamon and Sugar

Directions:
Pour Honeyville Churro Mix into an oven safe bowl and let it preheat in the oven at 350 degrees. Do not let the mix sit in the oven longer than 5 minutes.

While mix is heating up, boil water. Heating up the mix before it is added to the water helps the water and mix blend better as well as allows dough to run through the churro press smoother.

Once water is to a boil, remove mix from oven and add mix and water to your Bosch, KitchenAid, or other professional mixer and mix with dough hook. Mix at #2 setting for 1 minute. This allows the water to soak in the mix before you begin to knead the dough.

After mixing at #2 setting for 1 minute, turn the mixer up to the #6 setting and mix for 2 minutes. This will knead the dough into the perfect texture needed to run it through the churro press.

When done mixing, remove from the mixer and roll dough into the shape of your churro press.

The dough will have an elastic feel to it and should be very easy to work with. For those of us without a churro press, add the dough to a frosting bag and use a large star tip to squeeze out your churro’s to the desired size.

Add the dough to the press and press out churros. Each churro should be 15-16 inches long. The recipe should make 7-10 churros.

Once your churros have been made and are ready to cook, drop them in a deep fryer or in a pan with heated oil and let cook until golden brown. Remove, add cinnamon and sugar, and serve.

Honeyville’s Churro Mix contains everything you need to make warm, delicious churros that any customer would love. And because the mix is so complete (think about it, all you really need is water) any bakery can easily add this amazing item to their menu.

So the real question is, why haven’t you added Honeyville Churro Mix to your bakery menu?
