I promised you an update on Honeyville’s Sour Cream Powder. So I experimented a little when making my enchiladas.  Here are my personal opinions:
-Has a stronger smell than other products…not in a bad way, but you can smell the product right when you open the can. I think it smells like cheese.
-When following the instructions on the can the mix comes out watery, and worked GREAT in my enchiladas. I even tried whipping it to see if it would thicken; it didn’t. But I had my husband try it while it was ‘watery’ and he said the taste was good. Texture wasn’t there, but the taste was good.
-On to taste: Hubby (can you tell he did a lot of taste testing for me the other night??) thought it tasted more like cheese, but a yummy cheese. It was good, but just don’t expect a Sour Cream taste.
-Then I tried to do a 2 to 1 ratio (double the powder than water). The texture was PERFECT! Looked just like Sour Cream! Once again the hubby thought it tasted a little like cheese, but since the texture was perfect you could use as a topping or dip now.
Again, I am super excited we have this product out! I have been waiting and waiting because now I don’t have to worry about trying to freeze Sour Cream from the store to fulfill my 3 month Dinner Plan; I have it in Powdered form that will last years and not take up freezer room!
