We’ve created a lot of great bread recipes here on the Honeyville blog over the past few years. Each one has had its own unique ingredient, baking style, or sweet taste. But one recipe we hadn’t yet covered, yet was requested the most from all of our great followers, was that of a basic, homemade sandwich bread. Well, as with anything else, baking the perfect loaf of sandwich bread is not only about the right ingredients, but the right baking tools as well.

Say hello to the Norpro 12″ x 4 1/2″ Bread Pan. When it comes to baking perfect, amazing sandwich loaves every time, this is your secret weapon. Why you ask? Because creating the perfect loaf for homemade sandwiches really comes down to size.

Different-Sized-Pans

The Norpro 12″ x 4 1/2″ Bread Pan is the perfect size for such a loaf. As you can see above, it’s nearly double the size of the traditional 8″ x 4 1/2″ bread pan. That means a longer, stronger loaf, that gives you the perfect slices of sandwich-topping bread every time! Yes, you need the right pan for the right loaf, and this is the pan for you! Alright, enough talk, time to make some amazing Homemade Sandwich Bread!

Ingredients:
3 cups Milk, warmed
1/4 cup Butter, melted
1 Egg
1/3 cup Raw Mountain Wildflower Honey
1 Tbsp Salt
8 cups Honeyville Alta Artisan Bread Flour
4 Tbsp SAF Yeast

Yields: 2 loaves

Directions:
First, you need to prepare your dough.

Dough-in-Mixer

In your BOSCH Universal Mixer, add the following ingredients in this order: Milk, butter, egg, honey, salt, 4 cups of flour, and yeast right on top of the flour. Turn the mixer to the #2 setting, and while ingredients are mixing together, slowly add 4 remaining cups of flour, 1 cup at a time. Once dough begins to pull away from the sides, let the dough continue to knead in the machine for 3-4 minutes.

Bench-Scraper

Remove dough from mixer, place on an oiled surface, and cut dough ball in half, using your W├╝sthof Bench Scraper.

Loaf-Shaped-Dough

Taking one half of the dough, roll out and shape into a loaf of bread.

Dough-in-Pan

Place loaf in your greased Norpro 12″ x 4 1/2″ Bread Pan. Repeat process for other half of dough.

Risen-Dough

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Allow to rise for 30-40 minutes, or until loaf is the length of the pan and just peaking over the lip.

Brushed-With-Butter

Brush the top of the loaf with melted butter.

Baked-In-Pan

Place in oven that has been preheated to 400 degrees, then knock down to 350 degrees and bake for 30 minutes.

Bread-Cooling

Remove and allow to cool for 10-15 minutes on a cooling rack before serving.
