What’s your favorite salad topping? Whether it’s cheese, veggies, seeds and grains, or perhaps just the dressing, we can all agree that what makes a basic salad even better is, well, whatever is on top!

With Thanksgiving officially here, many of us are rushing to Google and Pinterest searching for the perfect side dishes to include in our Turkey-infused meals. Perhaps it’s not the sides we should be looking for, but the toppings!

Today’s recipe is the perfect example of just that! We’ve created the perfect side dish/salad topping, sure to make your Holiday meal even better. Not only is it super delicious and flavorful, but it’s so simple to create. You’ll wonder why you didn’t make some up sooner! Get ready, it’s time to bake up some Homemade Croutons!

1 loaf Sandwich Bread, 1 day old
1/3 cup Olive Oil
2 Tbsp Garlic Powder
3 Tbsp Chef Tess Romantic Italian Seasoning

First, make your bread. Planning ahead a day or two, follow our Sandwich Bread loaf recipe and create a delicious loaf of bread, then let it sit out on your counter, uncovered, for 1-2 days. This will make it nice and crusty!


Once bread is dried up, slice it up into individual pieces.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.


Cube those pieces and place in a large bowl.


Add oil, garlic powder, and romantic Italian seasoning, and lightly toss until all pieces are completely covered.


Spread cubes evenly over a cookie sheet, then bake in the oven at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes.


Remove when lightly golden brown, cool, then serve.


These croutons are the perfect side dish topping for any salad or meal. The baked in flavor of the garlic and Italian seasoning fills your kitchen with an amazing aroma, and your salad with a delicious taste!
