Don’t you just love Fair food? Whether they’re sweet funnel cakes, soft pretzels, or fried pickles, Fair food transforms your memories and palates back to a better time!

By far my favorite Fair food would have to be the Corn Dog. It’s just flat out awesome! Delicious, all beef franks, coated in thick corn meal, all fried up on a stick! Really, is there anything better? Though my love for corn dogs has never diminished, my ability to cook these delicious treats at home has been far from successful. Until now! Using our amazing, delicious Yellow Corn Meal, we’ve come up with the perfect, easy-to-make corn dog recipe that your kids (and you yourself) will be asking for again and again. It’s time to bring the Fair home. It’s time to fry up some Homemade Corn Dogs!

1 cup Honeyville Yellow Corn Meal
1 cup Honeyville All Purpose Flour
1/4 cup Sugar
1 Tbsp Baking Powder
1/4 tsp Salt
1 Egg
1 1/2 cups Buttermilk
1 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 Tbsp Honey
1 package Hot Dogs
8-10 Skewers
2 quarts Vegetable Oil (for frying)

First, heat up your oil.

To do this, pour 1-2 quarts of vegetable oil in a large pot and heat on the stove top to about 350 degrees.

In a large bowl, combine corn meal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt, and mix together.

Add egg, vegetable oil, and buttermilk and mix until a thick batter forms.

Prepare your hot dogs by removing from the package and wiping them down to remove any excess liquid. This will help the batter stick to the dogs easier.

Place a wooden skewer in each hot dog.

Pour batter in a large drinking glass, then dip each dog into the batter, making sure the batter completely coats the dog.

Place dog in the oil, baking for 2-3 minutes, constantly turning to ensure even cooking.

Remove once the corn dog is a dark golden color, then place on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb the excess oil.

Once cooled, serve.

These corn dogs are by far the best you’ll ever taste. While most corn dogs are made with corn cones, these dogs are cooked up with corn meal. What does that mean, you ask? It means you have a thicker batter, packed full of flavor and taste. Serve these dogs up with our Homemade Ketchup or Homemade Barbecue Sauce. Trust us, you’ll want seconds, thirds, and maybe even fourths.

It’s Corn Dog time, and thanks to this super easy recipe, you can bring the Fair to you any time of the year!
