Don’t you just love Thanksgiving side dishes? For me, the right side dish makes all the difference at the dinner table.
Perhaps the most recognizable side dish on Thanksgiving Day would have to be stuffing. It’s a must have this time of year. Because of that, only the perfect recipe will do. It has to be packed full of flavor, just like Grandma’s used to have, but also be simple to make. 4 slices Bread, diced (we used Chef Brad’s Whole Grain Bread recipe)
1/2 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Onion
1/2 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Celery
1/2 stick Butter
2 Tbsp Parsley
1 Tbsp Sage
1 cup Chicken Stock
1 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Apples
1 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Sausage
1 cup Raisins
Preheat oven 400 degrees.
Start up by dicing your bread. Like we mentioned above, we used Chef Brad’s Whole Grain Bread Recipe, and it was amazing!.
You’re going to want to have about 4 cups of diced bread.
Once diced, spread bread across a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet, place in the oven and bake for 10 minutes. Just long enough to toast up the pieces. Remove once completed, and place to the side.
Re-hydrate your onions and celery by soaking with water in separate bowls. Drain the excess water once they are finished re-hydrating.
In a large sauce pan, melt 1/2 stick butter.
Place celery and onion in the pan and sauté until butter is completely combined with onion and celery. Remove from heat and let cool.
In separate bowls, re-hydrate apples and sausage by soaking in water. Once re-hydrated, drain excess water.
In a large mixing bowl, combine bread, celery, onion, sausage, apples, raisins, parsley, and sage and mix together until completely combined.
Slowly pour in chicken stock while mixing ingredients. You want your bread moistened, but not soggy.
Take a 9×13 baking pan and grease with butter.
Pour in ingredients and bake in the oven at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
Remove, scoop up, and serve.
