I LOVE Honeyville Hot Chocolate! I always have some on hand-no matter the time of year. I like to give it to friends and neighbors for Christmas gifts too. This year I thought I’d throw in some of these dipped marshmallows for an added bonus. The marshmallows were so fun and easy to do–make a family night of it!
Ingredients:
Marshmallows
Candy Melts or Dipping Chocolate
Toppings to Dip (I used a variety of sprinkles, crushed candy canes, mini M&M’s, Red Hots, etc)
Directions:
Melt the candy melts/dipping chocolate according to package directions until smooth and creamy. (I used Vanilla candy melts but a milk chocolate would be delightful too!)
Dip the Marshmallow about halfway into the coating. Gently shake off any excess.
Roll the marshmallow in the desired topping. I found it easiest to roll the marshmallow in small particle items (like sprinkles) but found it easier to sprinkle by hand larger bits (like crushed candy cane and candy bits). Place marshmallow on a wax paper lined tray. Repeat for remaining marshmallows. Let marshmallows sit until coating has dried.
Now if you want to go a step further and add a candy cane (to use as a stirring stick) to your marshmallows continue the process by take a sharp knife and gently poking a starting hole.
Insert the unwrapped candy cane. No one wants plastic in their hot chocolate.
Now you have a couple of options of what to do with these little bits of awesomeness:
1. Invite friends and neighbors over and host a hot chocolate bar and set out a plate of the candy cane rods ones…
Or just a plate of the “regular” ones along with other cocoa add in choices.
2. Package some up in a festive bag to give to neighbors and friends, along with your favorite Honeyville Hot Chocolate.
3. Keep some for yourself and enjoy your next mug of cocoa all the more!
I loved the flavor combination that the crushed candy cane marshmallows added. I think the small particle toppings were prettier and easier to do but I was happy with each variety that I did!
Happy Eating!
