Sweet Sassy Molassy, how I love Biscuits!! Okay, I know, that’s a little over the top, but it’s true! When it comes to these delicious, buttery, flaky, mouth-watering sides, I get weak in the knees and my lips start smacking!

Biscuits are the perfect side dish. No matter what meal, what time of day, or where you are, everything goes better with a biscuit, even dessert!

With summer here, and fall just around the corner, we thought there was no better time to make up a batch of warm dessert biscuits! Using our amazing Freeze Dried Blueberries and with some help from our Buttermilk Powder, we’ve created the perfect biscuit recipe we’re sure you’re going to love! And what better way to bake up some Southern Style biscuits than in a Cast Iron Skillet, am I right? Say hello to our Cast Iron Blueberry Biscuits!

Ingredients:
2 cups Honeyville Alta Artisan Flour
2 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
2 Tbsp Sugar
3/4 tsp Salt
1/2 cup Butter, cubed (1 stick)
1 cup Honeyville Buttermilk Powder + 8 oz Water
1 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Blueberries

Glaze:
1 cup Powdered Sugar
3 Tbsp Water
1/2 tsp Vanilla

Directions:
Preheat oven to 475 degrees.

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt.

Next, add your cubed butter into your flour mixture and, using a pastry whisk, fork, or your hands, mix butter with flour mixture until it has a crumbly texture.

Next, pour reconstituted buttermilk powder (buttermilk + water) into mixture and mix until a thick dough forms. Gentle fold in re-hydrated Blueberries (soak in water until soft, then drain excess liquid).

Roll dough out on floured counter top about 1 1/2 inches thick.

Using a biscuit cutter or ramekin, cut out biscuits, then place biscuits in prepared skillet.

Bake at 475 degrees for 15 minutes.

While biscuits are baking, make glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, water, and vanilla, until combined.

Pour glaze over biscuits while biscuits are still hot. Allow to cool, then serve!
