Before the official battle begins, Let’s point out one huge benefit that both soups have. The two soups are sealed in a #10 can, giving them a shelf life of 3-5 years. This makes each of the soups the perfect all-in-one meals for any families food storage pantry. Now, back to the comparison.
Broccoli Cheese Soup Mix
Let’s start with Honeyville’s Broccoli Cheese Soup. Let me just say that if the title alone isn’t enough to entice you out of the cold weather and up to the kitchen table, the taste will for sure. This warm and creamy delight is overloaded with both broccoli and cheese, but what might surprise you are the subtle hints of celery, onion, and green beans. Served in a sourdough bread bowl is definitely the way to serve and devour this meal on a chilly autumn evening, (and dipping a few breadsticks isn’t bad either). If you’re looking for a soup to warm the soul, this is it!
Potato Cheese Soup Mix
I know what you’re thinking after hearing about the Broccoli Cheese Soup. How can anything get better? Not to worry, we found the perfect rival in Honeyville’s Potato Cheese Soup. If Broccoli Cheese was creamy, then Potato Cheese soup is creamy x 100! This warm, soothing soup combines delicious and hearty chunks of potatoes with a cheesy and creamy base that will melt you from head to toe as soon as the spoon touches your lips. Though cook time is a little longer with this one (15 minutes at a gentle boil compared to 5 minutes with Broccoli Cheese), the taste is definitely worth the wait. We served ours in a bread bowl, but the options are definitely endless with this mix. Perhaps a Chicken Pot Pie or Casserole might be your best location for this warm, melting delight! As for me, just give me a bowl along with a piece of French bread for dipping and I’m good!
When you’re looking for the perfect dinner to follow a day of raking leaves, carving pumpkins, a night of trick-or-treating, camping, or coming back from a high school or college game, you can’t go wrong with these two delicious, easy-to-make soups. And really, isn’t this time of the year officially soup season?
It was a tight battle right down to the wire with Potato Cheese Soup pulling away for us here in the office. Which one would be the winner in your house?
