We all know the importance of creating and building up our long term Food Storage. Whether a natural disaster, emergency situation, or an unexpected financial struggle, having a Food Storage Pantry stocked with your favorite Honeyville ingredients is a huge part of preparing for the “unexpected.”
But being ready doesn’t just mean building up your pantry, only to have all those Freeze Dried items sit on your shelves for years. Proper preparation includes food rotation, and that means finding ways to incorporate your favorite food storage items into your everyday cooking.
Chef Brad, America’s Grain Guy, is here to show you how you can use basic Honeyville Food Storage items to create delicious, everyday meals your family will love. Using the highly versatile Fagor 3 in 1 Pressure Cooker, he creates an amazing Black Bean, Ham & Rice dish in minutes! Black Bean, Ham, & Rice
Ingredients:
2 cups Honeyville Black Beans
6 cups Hot Water
1/2 cup Honeyville Tomato Powder
1 1/2 cups Honeyville Freeze Dried Ham
1/2 cup Honeyville Dehydrated Shoestring Carrots
1/2 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Green Beans
1 Tbsp Chef Tess Southwest Fajita Seasoning
Directions:
In your Fagor 3 in 1 Pressure Cooker, cook beans with water for 30 minutes on “High Pressure.” After 30 minutes, open pressure cooker and add remaining ingredients. Cook at “High Pressure” for 6 minutes. Serve over Brown Rice.
Brown Rice can be cooked in 12 minutes in the Fagor Pressure Cooker. Add 2 parts water to 1 part rice.
NOTE: A good way to tell if your beans are completely cooked in a pressure cooker is if they are not floating on top when you open the pressure cooker. If they are floating, they are not done yet.
