So imagine my excitement when I found this amazing recipe that combines all the delicious flavors of sweet apple pie, but bakes it up into a light, fluffy cake! Yup, you heard me correct, a cake that tastes like a pie! Or perhaps it’s a pie that tastes like a cake? Either way, this amazing dish, made with our Freeze Dried Apples, is soon to be your Fall favorite! Grab your apron, it’s time to bake up some Apple Pie Cake!
3 cups Honeyville Yellow/White Cake Mix
1 1/2 cups Water
1/3 cup Vegetable Oil
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil and mix together with an electric hand mixer.
Next, re-hydrate your apples in a separate bowl by soaking with water until soft, then draining any excess liquid. Add brown sugar and cinnamon and mix until apples are fully coated.
In your USA Pan Sprinform Pan, pour your cake batter.
Sprinkle apples on top of cake.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, and salt. Add diced butter and, using a pastry whisk, mix until you have a crumbly texture.
Pour crumbly texture over the top of the cake.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes, then remove and allow to cool for 10 minutes in the pan before removing the sides of the pan. Sprinkle the top with powdered sugar, slice, then serve!
This cake bakes up soft, fluffy, with the perfect moistness from the apple filling and an aroma that is sure to get you in the Autumn mood! This is sure to also send your taste buds on a flavor trip!
