There’s nothing better than a warm doughnut on a cool autumn day, especially when that doughnut is an apple fritter. The delicious blend of fresh-picked apples, sweet cinnamon and sugar, all baked up into the perfect treat, always makes my falls a little bit better.
With apple season upon us, I knew I wanted to create a delicious apple treat that could become a family tradition in your home every autumn season. But what would be best? Bread? Pastries? Cookies? Then, it hit me! apple fritters! But this isn’t your typical apple fritter recipe. Imagine this already popular pastry delight, baked into the perfect loaf of sweet, delicious cake bread! Sounds too good to be true? Trust me, it’s so easy and so tasty, you’re going to want to make this a fall-time classic in your home! Get ready, it’s time for some Apple Fritter Bread!
2 cups Honeyville Freeze Dried Apples
2/3 cup and 2 Tbsp Sugar, divided
2 tsp Cinnamon, divided
1/3 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Butter, softened
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla
1 1/2 cups Honeyville Alta Artisan Flour
2 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 cup Milk
1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
3 Tbsp Heavy Cream
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a medium bowl, whisk together 1/3 cup brown sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon, then place to the side.
In a separate bowl, re-hydrate apples by soaking in water until soft, then draining any excess liquid.
Add 1 tsp cinnamon and 2 Tbsp sugar, and mix together until full combined.
In another medium bowl, beat together 2/3 cup sugar and butter using an electric hand mixer. Add eggs and vanilla and mix together until fully combined.
In a separate bowl whisk together flour and baking powder, then add to creamed butter mixture and stir until blended.
Mix milk into batter until it is smooth and creamy.
Using your USA large loaf pan, prepare your bread by adding a sheet of parchment paper.
Pour about half the batter into the pan.
Add half of the apples and sprinkle half of the cinnamon/sugar mixture on top. Lightly press the apples into the batter.
Pour the rest of the batter on top, then add the rest of the apples and cinnamon/sugar mixture, gently pressing the apples into the batter.
Bake at 350 degrees for 60 minutes. Remove and allow to cool on the wire rack for 15 minutes before serving.
Mix ingredients for glaze together in a bowl, then top bread with glaze before slicing and serving.
