For the next few weeks, most people will be talking about their New Year’s Resolutions. We all make and then usually break them. Most resolutions concern looking and feeling better during the next year and we go gung ho into some new eating plan or exercise routine. Our new resolve can be all well and good, but if we do not really intend to change our lifestyles and be different then just making a change in our diet or working out for a few weeks is not going to do us any good.
Remember Breakfast
First, did you know that eating breakfast can boost your metabolism and get your day started off right? Oatmeal in all varieties helps lower cholesterol and gives sustained energy. Oatmeal is full of fiber and nutrients. Whole grains such as oats are a source of iron, magnesium and B vitamins. It can help you lose weight and feel full for a longer amount of time. Also Honeyville’s 6 Grain and 9 Grain Cereal Mix’s offer good breakfast options. Eaten in healthy portions, these whole grains can lower your risk of heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.
Eat More Eggs
Honeyville Scrambled Eggs, Ova Easy Egg Crystals, Whole Eggs or Eggs Whites also offer good sources of protein and offer the most digestible form of amino acids for humans. Eating eggs can help with hair, skin and nail health. Eggs are full of sulfur and B vitamins which can help keep you “happy.” They can help a person neurological function and also help decrease inflammation in the body. Better vision could be another benefit with the vitamins lutein and zeaxanthin. The Egg whites would be easy to add to a fruit smoothie for added protein. Eggs are good any time of the day, breakfast lunch and dinner.
