UTAH LOCAL TEAMS WITH HONEYVILLE TO SEND 8,500 MEALS TO HURRICANE HARVEY RAVAGED REFUGIO HIGH SCHOOLSep 11, 2017
Ogden, UT, September 11, 2017– Collin Kartchner, a Utah local, has amassed a large social media following through his parody style photos and videos. However, after the recent devastation of Hurricane Harvey, Collin has leveraged his following, or “collowers” as he calls them, to help raise over $120,000, all of which is being donated to Hurricane Harvey victims.
Most recently Collin took to social media asking for donations of high protein foods, specifically for Refugio High School’s Football team, which has seen the brunt of the powerful storm. When Honeyville heard Collin mention the need for food, especially “those really cool meals where you just add hot water,” Honeyville knew they could help!
“When we heard Collin mention pouch style meals we knew right away we could help and reached out to Collin. We hope that our donation can help improve what is a devastating and traumatic situation for so many.” – Brenden Haueter, Marketing Director at Honeyville
Over 8,500 meals will shortly arrive in Refugio, Texas to support Refugio High School. With a student body of just over 200 students, Refugio is a small school in a small low-income town hit hard by the effects of such a devastating natural disaster. The meals will be used throughout the community to support those who currently only have limited access to food. Honeyville is committed to supporting those in need and will continue to find opportunities and partners, like Collin.
“The head football coach told me, with panic in his voice, that 80% of these kids are already under the poverty line and now after being decimated by the hurricane they have nothing. His only concern was how he would feed these kids. The donation by Honeyville is literally a lifesaver for this community” – Collin Kartchner
