I’ve always wanted to go to Italy. Take a ride in a gondola, visit all the amazing sights like the Roman Colosseum and the leaning Tower of Pisa . . . . but alas, I cannot afford such luxuries. I can, however, make great Italian-style foods right here in my kitchen, and not hurt my wallet. These little Italy rolls are the perfect Italian snack or lunch that go hand in hand with a tight budget. With freeze dried sausage, melting freeze dried cheese, garlic marinara sauce and sprinkled Parmesan on top, you will think you’re enjoying them on a terrace in central Venice. Another great thing with this recipe, you can always substitute any of these ingredients with your personal Honeyville favorites. Try using our Sausage TVP, or make a unique marinara sauce with Chef Tess’ Romantic Italian seasoning. No matter what you choose to use, it will turn out great. Here is the way I made my little Italy rolls. Enjoy!

Ingredients:
1 can of Honeyville Freeze Dried Sausage
1 can of Honeyville Freeze Dried Mozzarella Cheese
1 jar of marinara sauce
1 roll of bake-ready crescents
Parmesan cheese optional

Directions:

First, roll out the dough squares and put them together to form a rectangle. Then put in the fillings of your choice, but make sure to put the marinara on first.

Fold over the dough and bake in the oven at 385 degrees for about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Sprinkle the tops with Parmesan cheese and let cool for about 5 minutes,
then enjoy your yummy little Italy rolls!
