It’s that time of year again. With the passing of Memorial Day we have unofficially begun the summer season. The hot summer sun and humidity brings out the very best in frozen yogurt lovers. Haven’t you always wanted to make your own from your favorite fruit flavors from home? I am about to reveal to you a recipe that is so simple, you can use items you may already have in your kitchen. 

The hardest part of this recipe is deciding what flavor you want to make. Personally I enjoy making a nice berry mixture with Honeyville’s freeze dried strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. You can actually use any fruit from Honeyville’s selection and I must add that peach is probably my next favorite. You can choose whatever flavors you prefer. 

4 cups of plain or Greek yogurt (Vanilla flavored is also a good choice to try.)
1/4 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Strawberries
1/4 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Blueberries
1/4 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Raspberries
1/4 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Blackberries  
3 Tbsp of Honey or Agave Nectar

First Step: Strain your yogurt well. 

You can use an ultra-fine sieve or line a strainer with cheesecloth and fill with your yogurt. Even if you start with Greek yogurt (which is already strained), I suggest that you still strain it anyway. You want to remove as much excess liquid from the yogurt as possible, which will prevent it from getting freezer burn. The recommendation is to leave the yogurt to strain into a large bowl placed in the fridge for at least four hours or overnight.

After removing, blot the outside of the sieve or cheesecloth with a paper towel to get any leftover liquid.

Second Step:  Add the fruit (berries or other) and honey or agave to the strained yogurt. 

Once all ingredients are thrown together and mixed, use the BOSCH Food Processor, or a blender to finish the job. This will help the honey and berry flavors to really infuse in the yogurt, blending in a way you just can’t get when you mix it by hand. 

Third and Final Step: Put your creation in the freezer for one to two hours — definitely check after one hour. It’s best not to leave it overnight, only because you may have to defrost the yogurt a bit. This recipe is at its best when eaten the same day. 

And just like that, you’ve got creamy, delicious Frozen Yogurt to help you cool down on a hot summer day.
