Bacon. Isn’t it awesome? I mean, seriously, what’s not to love about it? This sweet, savory, smokey flavored breakfast meat seems to bring the best out of any food. Think about all the foods bacon makes better. Bacon Cheeseburgers, Bacon and Eggs, Bacon-wrapped Steaks. I mean, bacon can even make salad taste better. Salad!

Perhaps that’s why I love our Honeyville Bacon Flavored TVP so much. If you’re a bacon lover and haven’t tried it out yet, what’s the hold up? Seriously, this stuff is awesome! It takes all the great taste, texture, and aroma of sweet, sizzling bacon, and packs it into a delicious, vegetable-based product, that gives you all the taste without all the fat. In other words, you get all the reward and none of the remorse!
Still not convinced? Maybe today’s recipe will convince you. I took our super delicious All Purpose Biscuit Mix and combined it with our flavorful Bacon TVP to create something so amazing, so delicious, that you’ll need to check your pulse after the first bite to make sure you didn’t die of taste overload! Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Bacon Flavored Biscuits!
1 1/3 cups Milk
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

In a large bowl, combine all purpose mix and milk and mix until a soft dough forms.

Re-hydrate your TVP by lightly soaking in a bowl for 2-5 minutes.

Add TVP to dough and knead until completely combined. You may need to sprinkle some mix in while kneading to keep the dough from getting sticky.

On a floured surface, roll out your do to about 1/4 inch thickness.

With the top of a Mason Jar lid, punch out your biscuit shapes. Re-roll dough each time and punch out to get the full amount of biscuits. I was able to get 11 biscuits, but the amount really depends on the thickness of the dough.

Place biscuits on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 450 degrees for 8-10 minutes, or until tops are lightly golden brown.

Remove and serve.

This is the breakfast biscuit you’ve been dreaming of! The sweet, buttery taste of biscuits, combined with the smokey, savory punch of bacon flavor is a delicious combination you never knew you needed! And the possibilities with these biscuits are endless. Slather it up with some melted butter, or go crazy and add some eggs and cheese between the biscuit for a delicious breakfast sandwich. Maybe even drizzle some country gravy on top.

Whatever you choose, you know the taste will be amazing. Why? Because you’ve got Bacon baked in there!
