Fall and apples. For me, there’s no better combination of taste and time of year. Winter may have its delectable treats, spring has its fresh flowers, and summer has its strawberries, raspberries, and cherries, but nothing beats a delicious apple on a cool autumn day.

Now I know that most of us are still bogged down in the summer heat. But with September just around the corner, my mind and senses seem stuck on apple-baked, cinnamon-infused treats that scream orange leaves, comfy scarves, and cool evenings. Today’s recipe is all that and more. While it gives you all the delicious apple cinnamon taste you love about fall, this recipe also allows you to directly substitute any gluten-free flour you can think of. That’s right, you can easily swap in our Hazelnut, Walnut, or Almond Flour for our All Purpose flour, and not have to worry about making any type of measuring or ingredient adjustments! How cool is that?! Time to get ready for fall with some Apple Cinnamon Bars!

2 cups Honeyville Freeze Dried Apples
1 tsp Cinnamon
4 Tbsp Brown Sugar
1 1/4 cup Honeyville All Purpose Flour (or substitute our Hazelnut, Walnut, or Almond Flour for a Gluten-Free Dish)
1 tsp Baking Powder
Dash of Salt
1 cup Sugar
1/3 cup Coconut Oil
1/3 cup Greek Yogurt
1 tsp Vanilla
2 eggs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Re-hydrate apples by soaking in water until soft, then draining excess liquid. Add cinnamon and brown sugar and toss lightly until apples are completely covered.

In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and salt.

In another, large mixing bowl, combine sugar, coconut oil, yogurt, vanilla, and eggs, and whisk together until smooth.

Add flour mixture into wet ingredients and mix until a smooth batter forms.

In your USA 8×8 Square Cake Pan, pour in half the batter.

Pour half of the apples on top, then pour remaining batter and top with remaining apples.

Bake at 350 degrees for 60 minutes. Remove and allow to cool 15-20 minutes in the pan. Dust with Powdered Sugar, slice, and serve.

These bars are the perfect blend of cinnamon, sugar, and apple flavor. The aroma of this sweet dish will fill your kitchen with the amazing smell of autumn-baked treats! Each bite of this decadent dessert will transport you into fall heaven and leave you wanting more. This is the perfect after school treat, family time dessert, or party-platter dish!

Nothing goes together better than fall and apples. With this dish, you can make it fall any time of the year!
